An update of an older deviation.
The Type 439 Battle Shrike is a SABRE hybrid interceptor, capable of radicaly altering its characteristics via a jettisonable nose section, swing wings and canards. Shrikes SABRE engines have three intakes and three outakes with two small upper SABRE cycles optimised for sub sonic operation and 3d thrust vectoring assist and the primary lower centreline cycle optimised for hypersonic rocket dash and super sonic operations with a simple 2d thrust vectoring system.
The extended loiter and super cruise aspect of the Type 439 are quite conventional even if the top side mounted sub sonic intakes are not, however the SABRE aspect grants the Battle Shrike her reason for existing, the ability to dash to the hypersonic at the expense of what would otherwise be her primary payload bay. While she can carry large munitions mounted externally (these are usually jettisoned along with drop tanks on engaging SABRE dash) her internal forward munitions bay is quite limited in capacity and usually tasked only with carrying six medium range guided SCRAM AAMs which the Shrike can only effectively deploy once she has cycled up her SABRE. Shrike has two internal mounting points for 20mm caseless metal storm pods mounted in front of the upper intakes, in most operations only one is carried with the other metal storm space being used to mount a flare / smart counter munitions / chaf launcher.
